Parkinson’s Awareness Week 2020

Parkinson’s Awareness Week took place between 5th– 11th April 2020 and this year’s theme was Diet and Exercise and how they can affect Parkinson’s symptoms. We would like to thank our supporters for helping us to raise awareness by displaying and sharing our posters, Tweeting on Twitter and posting on social media. We thank you all for your generous donations to support our services which make a DIRECT impact on the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s Awareness Week 2020

2.5 Challenge

Parkinson’s Awareness Week was a very active week for Parkinson’s Care and Support UK! Our 2.5 Challenge saw many people with Parkinson’s come together via our LIVE ZOOM classes to slow down their progression!

Did you know that 2.5 hours of exercise a week can reverse or slow down the progression of Parkinson’s Disease? It doesn’t stop there. Research has also shown that regular high intensity exercise can reduce the likelihood of developing Parkinson’s Disease at an older age!

With that in mind, we developed a 5 day long High Intensity exercise challenge for people to help to beat Parkinson’s. The challenge consists of daily 30 minute exercise workouts to be carried out over 5 days in the week. There are 10 exercises to do each day and we have included additional cooldown movements and stretches. The challenge is designed to push you out of your comfort zone in order to improve your fitness, posture, balance, strength, flexibility and coordination.

Although Parkinson’s Awareness Week is over, we still want those who did not get the chance to participate in our challenge to do so now. We have recorded the 5 day challenge for you to do in the comfort of your own home. When you have finished, please give us your feedback at exercise@parkinsoncare.org.uk

Take On Our Gut Cleanse Challenge

This challenge was originally created for Parkinson’s Awareness Week, however, due to the difficulties many people faced with obtaining all the ingredients for these tasty dishes, we are making the challenge available all year long!

WARNING! This challenge may result in:

  • An increased in Good Gut Bacteria
  • A Stronger Immune System
  • Increased Energy
  • Reduced Fatigue
  • Reduced Inflammation
  • A Stronger Intestinal lining
  • Less Bloating
  • Good Mood
  • Improved Bowel Movement.

Eating the right foods which consist of fruit, vegetables, pulses, nuts and wholegrains feed healthy bacteria in your gut. Highly processed foods either supress good bacteria or increase bad bacteria. Our 7 -day challenge provides tasty, nutritious gut cleansing meals to get you on the right track to a healthy gut. Although this is a 7-day challenge, we recommend that you continue this lifestyle. It can take anywhere from 2/3 weeks up to 12 weeks to heal and cleanse your gut and so it’s a perfect opportunity to start as you mean to go on!

REGISTER NOW to take up the Gut Cleanse Challenge.

We will send you our 7-day Gut Cleansing Menus which include all breakfasts, lunches and dinners as well as and nutritional tips. All we ask is that you tell us about your stories of how the challenge worked for you and if you will keep up with these lifestyle changes!
