Our commitment to non-animal testing methods

Parkinson’s Care and Support UK do not support animal testing or cruelty of any kind

As a charity, we recognise the need for research in the Parkinson’s community. We absolutely believe that research is needed to help prevent Parkinson’s, to help understand the progression of the condition so that intervention methods can take place to slow this down and to reverse or cure the disease. Research can be particularly useful for gaining information to help us better understand why people get Parkinson’s and what role environmental and genetic factors play, how holistic and integrated therapies can be used to increase dopamine production and to disrupt the motor and non-motor symptoms amongst many other things.

Parkinson’s Care and Support UK assert its commitment to funding and promoting non-animal methods, such as in vitro techniques, computer models, and human-based research, to advance scientific understanding while eliminating the use of animals in Parkinson’s research.

We are dedicated to developing, funding, and utilising alternative approaches to animal testing. We have a forward-looking vision which plays it part in the elimination of animal experiments and which promote more ethical and effective scientific research.
