Swallowing, Eating and Drinking Safely with Parkinson’s

Up to 80% of people with Parkinson’s may experience changes to swallowing, which can make eating and drinking more difficult (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists). These changes can be uncomfortable, frustrating, or even frightening, and may affect your confidence and independence.

Being aware of swallowing difficulties early and knowing what support is available can make a real difference. That’s why we are offering this live, interactive online education session, delivered by specialist Speech and Language Therapists with experience in Parkinson’s. The session provides clear, practical, and compassionate guidance to help you eat and drink more safely and comfortably.

In this session you will learn:

  • How Parkinson’s can affect swallowing and why changes occur
  • Early signs to look out for and why acting early matters
  • Practical tips and strategies for safer eating and drinking
  • How to manage drooling and related difficulties
  • Non-drug treatment options and complementary approaches
  • When and how to get help — the role of a Speech and Language Therapist
