How Exercise Can Help Your Parkinson’s
Did you know that exercise can actually change the brain and have a positive impact on Parkinson’s symptoms? Research from the Parkinson’s Outcomes Project, the largest-ever clinical study of Parkinson’s found that people with Parkinson’s Disease who engaged in at least 2.5 hours of exercise a week had a better quality of life than those who didn’t exercise at all or started exercising later.
Parkinson’s Care and Support UK provides exercise classes all around UK for those living with Parkinson’s. These classes are run weekly by our qualified personal trainers and are free for anyone affected by the condition. Carers are welcome too. We have a variety of exercise classes including yoga, chair based and dance and that are suitable for different fitness levels and mobility.
Our classes use specific techniques designed to stimulate dopamine production, increase mobility, flexibility and balance. Exercise classes also provide a good opportunity to socialise with members of the Parkinson’s community, so you don’t have to go through living with the condition alone.
